Movie on the world's most haunted house

26 Jul – One of the most haunted mansions in the world, Winchester Mystery House will be adapted by Hammer film production into a movie with identical twin brothers, Peter and Michael Spierig to write and direct the movie.

Previously in 2012, it was reported that Hammer Films will be producing a supernatural thriller based on the infamous Winchester Mystery House. The upcoming film was originally penned by Tom Vaughan, the director of Ashton Kutcher's 2008 romantic comedy film, "What Happens in Vegas".

The baton was then passed to the Spierig brothers who previously directed and wrote Lionsgate's 2009 thriller film, "Daybreakers" to continue the original script written by Vaughn which focuses on the heir to the Winchester firearms fortune, Sarah Winchester.

Based on ComingSoon.net, set in the year of 1884, Sarah Winchester believes she was cursed by the rifle's victims and the lethal legacy of the "gun that won the West" after the deaths of her husband and child.

She then moved to San Jose at the instruction of a spiritualist medium and began a round-the-clock construction that would last thirty-eight years. The result is a 24,000 sq. foot, 160-room Gothic mansion.

Tobin Armbrust of Hammer said, "We can't wait to see what the Spierig brothers unearth as they delve in to the mysteries of Sarah Winchester and her infamous haunted house."

"As the first feature film ever shot inside the Winchester Mystery House, we are excited to have these fantastic filmmakers bring their unique vision to the table," Armbrust added.
