YOUR FRIENDS' ACTIVITY

Outrage as bleeding China toddler left on street

More than a dozen passers-by ignored a two-year-old girl as she lay critically injured on a street in southern China after being run over twice, the official Xinhua news agency said Monday.

The incident has sparked outrage on China's hugely popular social media sites.

Surveillance cameras showed a series of people walk past the girl, named Yue Yue, after she was hit first by a van and then a truck outside her family's shop in the southern Chinese city of Foshan.

Xinhua said a rubbish collector who finally came to the girl's aid, moving her to the curb and shouting for help, was ignored by several shopkeepers before he finally tracked down her mother who took her to hospital.

In response, one netizen on Sina Weibo, a Chinese micro-blog similar to Twitter, wrote: "This society is seriously ill. Even cats and dogs shouldn't be treated so heartlessly."

But others linked the incident to an earlier case in which a man who tried to help an elderly woman after she fell over was prosecuted, apparently because his intervention broke government rules on dealing with accident victims.

Doctors said Yue Yue was in a coma and unlikely to survive the ordeal.

"She would not be able to survive any operations. She's very close to brain death," a spokesman for the hospital treating her told AFP.

Police have detained the drivers of both vehicles involved in the incident, Xinhua said.

...It's just sick that people would leave someone to get hit in the middle of the road. That is happens to society when we leave god out! these folks at least respect for the human living and I think children should be treated with love and understanding. God bless and help their parents in this difficult time

.....and you Chinese People even had the guts of "Over Reacting" to the hostage crisis here in Manila? Even making a big issue out of it within the International Community? Yet your very own people cannot even show care to the poor boy! The second vehicle, a truck, run over the poor child again?.... bystanders don't even care?..... passers-by just ignored the child?... as if the victim was just a street dog that doesn't even need attention by human beings? My gosh..... What kind of people have you in your Country? Shame on you!

People refusing to even provide a simple act of calling a ambulance for a dying child? That's a serious breakdown of Chinese morals. I really thought badly about those bystanders at first, but after reading up on the incidents where Good Samaritans in China get their asses handed to them by those they help. And the resulting surveys and polls with depressing figures? I can't anymore honestly say "I would have done different and helped the girl."

Nice people fearing about losing their life savings for HELPING SOMEONE? Chinese refusing to help unless they know there was a camera to prevent scammers from taking advantage of their good will? Or just flat out refusing to help?

Ugh, hopefully this is what it'll take for China to do something about this. It's sad that a little girl has to suffer to open their eyes, but maybe something can be salvaged from this.

To the people in the Chinese government, this is the result of your INEPTITUDE to even protect the basic morality of your countrymen.
