Sin Kwok Lam will donate for Lau Kar Leung's charity

16 Feb – Film producer and action director Sin Kwok Lam recently expressed his wishes to donate HKD 5 million (USD 644,655) to his master, Lau Kar Leung's charity organisation.

Sin, who is also the Vice President of the World Wing Chun Union, revealed that Shaw Brothers have yet to make any reply in regards to the martial arts actor's unpaid royalty that Lau's wife, Mary Jean Reimer mentioned before, and said that he would help pay and put the end to the matter.

"There is no point to keep going. I might as well help. The 5 million is not for Mary Jean, but for the charity organisation," said Sin. "Mrs. Shaw doesn't have to worry if we would continue bothering her anymore. This way it's better for both parties."

Meanwhile, Mary, who attended the ceremony to install Lau Kar Leung's stone tablet at the Po Fook Hill Cemetery on 13 February, stated that she will donate HKD 1 million to the charity fund herself.

"Both parties (Lau Kar Leung and Run Run Shaw) have passed on to another world. Let them negotiate and discuss the issue themselves," said Mary.

In regards to Sin Kwok Lam's intention to donate HKD 5 million, Mary said, "We have already given the Shaw family the honour to donate to the charity. If they don't want to, we don't want to force them anymore. HKD 5 is neither a little nor a lot."

She added, "If Master Lau did receive the salary that he should have, his wife would not have to work seven jobs. This is not a complaint. I am just stating the obvious. It was something that Master Lau himself could not let go during his life."

The Lau Kar Leung Charity Foundation serves to assist and ease the burdens of stunt workers who are ill or injured due to the nature of their occupation.
