Singapore woman dies in Hawaii in suspected murder-suicide

A Singaporean woman has been found dead with a gunshot wound in her home in Hawaii on 28 October.

Local reports say that Tara Irdawati Isnin, 33, who moved to Hawaii in August to live with her American husband, was a victim of a suspected murder-suicide.

Ex-army personnel Leo Chavez, 40, currently held at Queen's Medical Center, is suspected to have shot Tara before turning the gun on himself.

Tara has a five-year-old daughter who is living in Singapore.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said it is "aware of the incident involving the Singaporean in Honolulu, Hawaii". It is in contact with the victim's next-of-kin and is offering consular assistance.
