Son Moon-kwon's suspicious death

15 Feb – After the industry recovered with the initial shock from the news of South Korean director Son Moon-kwon's death, speculations arose regarding the relationship he had with his wife, writer Im Seong-han, and why she only relayed the fact that he comitted suicide three weeks later.

According to HanCinema, although the "Tales of the New Gisaeng" director died on 21 January, the official announcement of the sad incident was only made yesterday. Shockingly, MBC, who had employed Son and Im to write a new drama together as a couple, stated that they did not know of Son's death until the announcement yesterday.

A representative of the South Korea's television network remarked, "Two weeks ago, I talked to Im and she said, due to personal reasons, the couple wouldn't be able to go on with the drama and that we should look for other writers. We had no idea that by 'personal reasons' she meant her husband had committed suicide".

It is said that apart from the deceased director's parents and wife, no other family members knew the cause of death.
