This Revolutionary Pushchair Is Small Enough To Fit In Your Hand Luggage (Yes, Really)

Going abroad with a small child is never much fun – largely because you need to content with a huge amount of baby gear including the dreaded pushchair.

Each airline has it’s own rules but generally it’s a case of keeping hold of the buggy until you board the plane, then someone takes it off you to stash in the luggage cabin.

But what if you could take it on the plane with you? That would probably make life a whole lot easier.

So small it fits in the cabin luggage. [Photo: Babyzen]

That’s the thinking behind an innovative new pushchair, the Babyzen YOYO. Claiming to be the world’s smallest buggy it folds down to measure 52 x 44 x 18cm (and weighs just 6kg), making it compliant with IATA regulations for cabin luggage and so can be stored in the overhead compartment of an airplane. Or in a tiny car boot. Or under-stairs cupboard. You get the idea – it’s compact.

It’s suitable from birth and comes with a newborn nest that attaches to the stroller chassis so that young babies can travel facing their parents. At the six-month mark, you can remove the nest and attach a seat base to convert the YOYO into a second stage outward facing stroller.

Price wise, it’s what you would expect from a standard buggy. The complete pack from 0+ to 15kg costs £445 and the six-month plus stroller is £319.

Now if only someone could invent a carrycot that doesn’t practically break your arm when your baby’s inside it…
