'Friends' vs. 'The Andy Griffith Show': Vote for the Best TV Theme Songs

Would you rather hang out at Central Perk, or in Mayberry? You decide in Round 2 of Yahoo! TV's Theme Song Thunderdome.

With March Madness in full swing, we decided to do a TV-themed bracket of our own: a no-holds-barred tournament to determine the best TV theme song of all time. After lots of heated debate, we've selected and ranked 32 of the most memorable TV theme songs ever, pitting them against each other in a winner-takes-all bracket. Over the next few weeks, we're asking you to vote for your favorite theme songs until we get a winner -- and a few songs stuck in your heads.

(1) "Friends" ("I'll Be There For You")

Maybe we let '90s nostalgia cloud our judgment: We thought the jangly "Friends" theme "I'll Be There For You" was a nice, safe top seed, but it survived a real scare in Round 1, courtesy of Bo and Luke Duke, only scoring 60% of the vote. Has "I'll Be There For You" become more annoying than endearing over the years? We'll find out in Round 2, when it takes on a true classic in "Andy Griffith." Still, we're cautiously optimistic that Joey Tribbiani will be asking some lucky lady "How you doin'?" in Round 3.

(8) "The Andy Griffith Show" ("The Fishin' Hole")

The essence of simplicity, the "Andy Griffith" theme is all whistles and snaps, as old-fashioned and comforting as a trip to Mayberry itself. Voters opted for Andy and Opie's fishing soundtrack over the '70s pomp of "The Love Boat" in Round 1, and we actually wouldn't be shocked if it pulls off a huge upset and ousts "Friends" this time around. Never underestimate the power of a home-cooked meal from Aunt Bee.
