'The Jeffersons' vs. 'The Mary Tyler Moore Show': Vote for the Best TV Theme Songs

Movin' on up, or making it after all? You decide in Round 2 of Yahoo! TV's Theme Song Thunderdome.

With March Madness in full swing, we decided to do a TV-themed bracket of our own: a no-holds-barred tournament to determine the best TV theme song of all time. After lots of heated debate, we've selected and ranked 32 of the most memorable TV theme songs ever, pitting them against each other in a winner-takes-all bracket. Over the next few weeks, we're asking you to vote for your favorite theme songs until we get a winner -- and a few songs stuck in your heads.

(2) "The Jeffersons" ("Movin' On Up")

“Movin’ On Up” is, indeed, moving on up in our bracket, after vanquishing the pop-punk intro to “The O.C.” in Round 1. Is there a soul alive who can hold back from singing and clapping along to the glorious, gospel-inflected “Jeffersons” anthem? If you’ve ever dreamed of having more and being more, then make sure this theme gets “up in the big leagues.”

(7) "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" ("Love Is All Around")

She made it after all! “Love Is All Around” managed not to get abducted in the first round by the spooky “X-Files” theme song. Now, it faces another inspiring tune, though “MTM” promotes girl power instead of aspiration. Generations of women have taken heart from the ballad’s encouragement: “Who can turn the world on with her smile?” We can!
