2 dead, 1 injured after car crash outside Istana

Two people died and one person was injured after a car accident outside the Istana early in the morning on Saturday (16 Dec).

Police told Yahoo News Singapore they were alerted to the accident along Cavenagh Road at 6.06am. The driver, a 25-year-old man, and a 21-year-old female passenger were unconscious when they were sent to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, where they later died from their injuries.

Another passenger, a 28-year-old man, was conscious when sent to the hospital.

According to Shin Min Daily News, the car hit a metal gate meant for pedestrians at the rear entrance of the Istana.

Media reports said the driver was a Khairul Anwar.

Police investigations are ongoing.
