3 UFC Fighters Who Could Challenge ONE Championship’s Angela Lee

There’s no denying ONE Atomweight World Champion “Unstoppable” Angela Lee’s dominant run in the organization. Lee is 10-2 in ONE and remains unbeaten in the atomweight division (47.7 kg to 52.2 kg).

Because of that success, Lee has women from all over the world gunning for her belt.

With that in mind, here are three UFC strawweights (52.2 kg) who could challenge Lee if the two organizations ever held a cross-promotional event.

#1 Rose Namajunas

Rose Namajunas is the current UFC Women’s Strawweight World Champion and has a 10-4 professional record.

She began her career in 2014 on “The Ultimate Fighter” but lost to Carla Esparza for the inaugural UFC Women’s Strawweight World Title. Over the next seven years, however, she scored eight wins over top-ranked athletes in the organization, with her last victory being a first-round head kick knockout of former titleholder Zhang Weili.

Like Lee, Namajunas is a slick ground specialist who has five submission wins to her name. And if she ever meets the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Champion in the Circle or Octagon, it would surely be a battle of grapplers – “Unstoppable” herself has seven submission wins.

#2 Zhang Weili

Top-ranked UFC strawweight contender Zhang Weili, as mentioned, is a former titleholder.

The woman from China stormed into the Octagon in 2018, and over the next two years, she scored four wins in a row and captured UFC gold. She hit a roadblock in her last match against Namajunas, but she’s still a formidable athlete in the division.

Zhang has 10 knockouts to her name and almost double the experience, making her a serious threat to Lee. However, “Unstoppable” has shared the Circle with women who were a lot more seasoned and still came out on top.

#3 Carla Esparza

Number three-ranked UFC strawweight Carla Esparza officially joined the promotion on the same day as Namajunas and was successful in winning the inaugural World Title from the latter.

She lost that belt in her second outing, but Esparza still went on to win eight more bouts in the UFC, some of them against top-ranked strawweight contenders. With four knockout wins and four submission victories on her record, Esparza can compete wherever her matches unfold.

Because of this, a battle between her and the ever-improving striker in Lee would make for a dynamic bout. If it does happen, expect it to be filled with nonstop action from opening to closing bells.
