32 Divorces in Modern History That Really Broke the Bank
No matter the reason, divorce can be very difficult. No one gets out of a breakup easily, though time and hard work can help foster healing and the chance to love again. But the reality is that if you’re in the public spotlight, your divorce (and all the ensuing drama) is going to be shouted from the rooftops. While celebrity and business magnate settlements aren't always part of the public record, estimates are often made based on a couple's overall worth. From what we know, here are some of the most expensive divorces in recent history.

Married in 1970 after a whirlwind romance, the two split in 1978 with rumors of adultery (on both sides). Mrs. Jagger walked away with what seems like a paltry $2.5 million in 1980 (though that's the equivalent of $8.5 million today).

They divorced in 1992 when Ted began allegedly seeing Whoopi Goldberg. Casey reportedly received a settlement for $30 million.

Apparently, love is messy for rock stars. Mick got together with Jerry while he was still married to his first wife, Bianca. They finally married in 1990 on the beach in Bali, but the model filed for divorce in 1999 when The Rolling Stones star fathered a child with another woman. Their Bali marriage was deemed invalid in the U.K., so Jerry was granted an annulment instead and a $40 million settlement.
