The lodging rental website Airbnb has been growing and trending these past few years, and Jakarta is no exception.

The digital marketplace enables property owners to rent and share their private accommodations with travelers at low and reasonable rates. Not only is it cheaper than staying at a hotel, but renting rooms via Airbnb is a great way to get a more personal experience with your destination's local culture and peoples.

If you plan to set foot in the capital city and would like use Airbnb, The Jakarta Post Travel has picked five accommodations that might offer a welcome alternative to a hotel.

Akanaka Executive Room Rent, South Jakarta
Akanaka is a well-designed executive room rental establishment located in the prestigious Kemang area of Jakarta. Rooms are fully furnished and equipped with an en-suite shower with hot and cold water, flat screen TVs with paid channels, free Wi-Fi and free breakfast.

Most also have views of a swimming pool and a small garden.

Guests are allowed to use the living room and the wooden balcony upstairs. A multi-channel TV is available in the living room and the studio. There is also a modern kitchen with facilities such as a refrigerator, a microwave and a stove that can be used for free. There is also an abundant supply of drinking water, coffee and tea.

The house is located in a calm residential area, so you can jog around the neighborhood safely. It is only five minutes from ITC Cempaka Mas, a trade center with restaurants, grocery stores, electronics shops and other shopping pleasures.

Bright Home Downtown, Central Jakarta
The property is a two bedroom apartment strategically located at the heart of Jakarta. It's a parqueted cute Scandinavian styled apartment with convenience stores, restaurants, pizza stations, banks, laundry services, and taxi stands all available within the apartment's establishment.

It takes only five to 10 minutes walk to Grand Indonesia, Thamrin City and the luxurious Plaza Indonesia shopping malls. Five-star hotels such as Hotel Indonesia Kempinski, Mandarin Oriental and the Grand Hyatt are also in the vicinity. It's also just a 15-minute-walk from the nearest TransJakarta bus station.
