6 men arrested for suspected rioting along Sims Avenue

Six men have been arrested for their suspected involvement in rioting along Sims Avenue.

In a statement on Monday (13 August), the police said they received a report on Sunday night that there was a group of people fighting in the area.

According to preliminary investigations, a group of people assaulted two men after an altercation following a traffic accident. The group then fled the scene in a van.

The six men, who are aged between 24 and 35, were arrested within an hour of the report.

Four of the men will be charged with rioting on Tuesday while investigations against the other two men are ongoing.

Any person who is convicted of rioting faces a jail term of up to seven years and caning.
