Aircon serviceman jailed for exposing himself to female resident

SINGAPORE — A 47-year-old air conditioning serviceman who exposed himself to a female resident was on Monday (23 December) jailed for a week.

Mohamed Shah Abu Bakar pleaded guilty to one charge of insulting the modesty of a woman.

On 5 August, Shah attended to the 37-year-old victim’s house with a colleague to service her aircon unit at about 4.10pm.

At about 5pm, he found her sexy and was aroused, the court heard. He went up to the victim, who was standing along the corridor of her home and used his left hand to pull down his pants and expose his penis to her. He used his right hand to point at his penis.

The victim, who was using her mobile phone, did not notice what Shah was doing initially. But when she looked up from her phone, she was shocked and shouted at him. The perpetrator then ran off from the unit.

The victim then called the police.

The maximum punishment for insulting the modesty of a woman is up to one year in jail and a fine.
