Amir Khan Shares His 2021 New Year’s Resolutions

ONE Championship lightweight standout Amir Khan had a turbulent 2020, but the Singaporean knockout specialist is promising to turn his luck around this year.

He started last year off with a tough loss, falling to Kimihiro Eto via rear-naked choke at ONE: KING OF THE JUNGLE in February.

A few months later, he discovered his father had life-threatening brain cancer and was only given months to live.

However, he experienced a momentary high after defeating Rahul “The Kerala Krusher” Raju at ONE: REIGN OF DYNASTIES in October and re-setting the record for most KOs in ONE Championship history. Still, that excitement was short lived.

Just weeks after he was scheduled to fight “Crazy Dog” Dae Sung Park at ONE: COLLISION COURSE II in December, Khan’s father passed away.

Sensing that his father would’ve wanted him to compete, the Evolve MMA standout went through with the bout.

He fought valiantly, but in the end, the decision was awarded to Park.

Even though he began and ended 2020 with losses, Khan promises to return to the winner’s circle and take on all opponents who come his way throughout this year.

“I feel it’s going to be a busy year. I just want to take on 2021, each month and each moment, head-on. I want a lot of challenges in 2021. That’s what 2021 will be for me – it’ll be the year of challenges,” he said.

“All I can say is that I’m going to have a lot of fights. I’ll be holding onto a winning streak. That’s my train of thought. And yeah, enjoying the moment with a tub of ice cream.”
