Dota 2: PSG.LGD no more as LGD Gaming cease partnership with PSG Esports
After five years under the PSG.LGD brand, the Chinese team will once again be competing under its original LGD Gaming name.
Chinese Dota 2 team LGD Gaming announced on Monday (4 September) that they have ceased their partnership with PSG Esports, the esports wing of the French football club Paris Saint-Germain F.C., and will now continue to operate under the original LGD Gaming name.

LGD first partnered with PSG back in April 2018, with the main LGD team being rebranded to PSG.LGD. Under the PSG.LGD name, the team became widely known as one of the best Dota 2 teams in the world, boasting three Major championships at EPICENTER XL and the MDL Changsha Major in 2018 as well as the WePlay AniMajor in 2021.
The PSG.LGD era also saw the team finish in the Top 3 of The International (TI), Dota 2's annual world championship tournament, three times. The team finished second in TI 2018 and 2021 and third in TI 2019.
In that time, the team also hosted some of the biggest stars in the history of the Chinese Dota 2 scene, including Wang "Ame" Chunyu, Lu "Somnus" Yao, and Xu "fy" Linsen, among others.

LGD is one of the oldest and most decorated esports organisations in China, starting as For the Dream all the way back in 2009 during the days of the original Defense of the Ancients mod for WarCraft III: The Frozen Throne.
Since joining the Dota 2 esports scene in 2012, LGD has been a powerhouse of the Chinese scene and has represented the country in every iteration of TI since then.
The LGD flag will once again be flying in TI 2023, which will be held in Seattle this October. LGD was among the 12 teams to earn a direct invite to the event and is the only Chinese squad to do so.
TI 2023 will be hosted across multiple weekends from 12 to 29 October in Seattle, the United States. This year's tournament also features a revamped format split into two distinct phases, called 'The Road to The International' and 'The International' itself.
