The people of Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) have impressed Senior Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tan Wu Meng for their “diligence and discipline” after his recent visit to the country.

In a post on his Facebook page, the Jurong GRC MP mentioned that he visited the DPRK from 8 to 10 September as the representative of the Singapore government to attend events marking the 70th anniversary of the DPRK’s founding.

“What left a deep impression was the diligence and discipline of the DPRK people, which was particularly evident from the organisation and choreography of the official Parade and the separate Mass Gymnastics and Artistic Performance, involving tens of thousands of people,” Tan said.

He added that there is “certainly potential” for the country when peace prevails.

“We hope that all parties involved will continue to make progress towards lasting peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula.”
