Tottenham manager Antonio Conte has further explained Alessandro Del Piero’s presence at the club’s training ground yesterday.

The 47-year-old was pictured alongside Conte, with whom he won a raft of trophies alongside at Juventus including the Champions League, and Harry Kane.

Del Piero had also appeared on Sky Sports to discuss the managerial situation at Manchester United, as well as work on Juve’s humbling at the hands of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

Speaking ahead of Tottenham’s Europa Conference League game away at Slovenian side NS Mura on Thursday evening, Conte revealed Del Piero it was “good to see” such an old friend after a long time.

“Alessandro came here to visit us at the training ground,” he said.

“He was in London as a guest for Sky for the Chelsea vs Juventus game. It was good to see him. We played together, I coached him and together we won a lot in our career. It was good to see him after a long time.”

When asked whether or not Del Piero - widely regarded as one of the best strikers in recent European history - had any advice for out-of-form Kane, Conte suggested he might have done.

“Yeah but we are talking about two world-class strikers. It was good for Harry to see Alessandro and it was the same for Alessandro to see him! Alessandro cheers’d all the players and it was good for us.”
