Ariana Grande is yet again proving her prowess as a hair chameleon.

The 30-year-old singer donned a catsuit and underwent a brunette hair transformation for her latest music video for "The Boy Is Mine," a stark departure the blonde hair she's been rocking for over a year. In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, June 11, Grande offered fans an up-close look at the dark brown bob she rocked for the video as well as some behind-the-scenes snaps.

The caption-less post included a mirror selfie of the Grammy winner showing off her shorter style. The shoulder-length bob was flipped out at the ends and featured face-framing pieces. She wore her signature makeup look of cat-eye liner, bronzed skin and a soft pink lip.

Her outfit was just as glam. The singer channeled Catwoman with a leather corset, leather miniskirt and a sheer cutout top with long sleeves that extended into gloves. Of course, she added a mask with cat ears, a nod to the cover of her third studio album, 2016's Dangerous Woman.

"The Boy Is Mine" is Grande's latest single from her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine. The track reimagines Brandy and Monica's 1998 R&B hit of the same name. In the video, Penn Badgley plays the fictional Mayor Max Starling whose answer to the city's rat infestation problem is unleashing stray cats.

Grande's character makes a love potion specifically for Starling to fall in love with her before dressing up in a Catwoman-like costume and breaking into his home. She appears with blonde hair in the first part of the video but when she dons her masked ensemble, is brunette.

The singer went blonde in October 2022 to prepare for her role as Glinda in the film adaptation of Wicked. A year later, she celebrated her "blondieversary" by posting a behind-the-scenes photo of her having foils applied to her hair.

“Happy [one] year blondieversary,” Grande wrote over the selfie.

Elsewhere in the post, she tagged Francesco De Chiara, the London-based hair colorist who first lightened her hair in 2022. De Chiara could be seen in the salon photo applying bleach to her then-brunette tresses.

Prior to her blonde hair transformation for Glinda, Grande had been known for her signature brunette and at-times cherry red hair, which she often wore in a bouncy high ponytail.

The first official trailer for Wicked, which is directed by Jon M. Chu and also stars Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, was released on May 15, 2024. The adaptation will be split into two parts, with Wicked: Part One hitting theaters Nov. 27.
