Arjan Bhullar: ‘The Pro Wrestling Industry Is Ducking Me, Running Scared’

ONE Heavyweight World Champion Arjan “Singh” Bhullar made headlines by challenging UFC Heavyweight World Champion Francis Ngannou to a crossover fight, but the Indian isn’t stopping there.

The former wrestling star also has his eyes on the world of professional wrestling.

After winning the World Title from former belt holder Brandon “The Truth” Vera at ONE: DANGAL in May, “Singh” teased fans with the possibility of competing in the scripted sport.

However, no challenger has stepped up to face him just yet.

“I feel like the pro wrestling industry is ducking me. These guys are running scared,” Bhullar said.

“I cut that promo, everyone got excited, and they know what we’re bringing into the squared circle. It’s real. It’s a fandom that is deeply loyal, and we’re out there to prove what the ONE World Title is all about and MMA is all about.”

When asked which promotion he’s like to make his professional wrestling debut in, Bhullar named all the top organizations, and he’s refusing to let them off the hook.

“Be that Vince McMahon and the WWE, be that Tony Khan and the AEW, the whole roster was put on notice, and they are still on notice,” the Indian athlete said.

The ONE Heavyweight World Champion did add, though, that talks have begun.

“Vince and Tony are at the table. They are having discussions with us, but we’re going to make sure we get a winning deal here and we’re able to express ourselves to the fullest of our talent within that squared circle. That’s what really gets me excited,” Bhullar said.

Should he step into the professional wrestling arena, “Singh” will be well-equipped. After all, he’s a Commonwealth Games Wrestling Gold Medalist and a Canadian Wrestling Freestyle Olympian.

That said, he’s also open to adding new grappling skills to his arsenal.

“Even now, technique-wise, pro wrestling is rooted in catch wrestling. If you look at guys like Josh Barnett, catch wrestling is right up his alley. That’s what he’s about in the world of MMA,” Bhullar said.

“So, I have studied that as well and techniques of that. I’m excited to apply that within the squared circle and even in the ONE cage as we move forward.”
