Arrest after man dies in crash

A man in his 50s has died after a two-vehicle collision.

Police said the man from Cheltenham was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the B4070 in Birdlip, Gloucestershire, shortly after 05:30 BST this morning.

A man in his 30s from the Cotswolds has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.

The road between Buckholt Road and the A417 is expected to remain closed for some time as investigation work takes place.

Motorists travelling in the area have been advised to seek a different route.

The man who has since died was driving a silver Kia Picanto, while the arrested man was driving a grey Nissan Qashqai, Gloucestershire Police said.

The police has asked anyone who witnessed the collision, the vehicles prior to the incident, or anyone who has dashcam footage to contact police.
