American footwear manufacturer New Balance has teamed with Melbourne-based sneaker zine "Sneaker Freaker" for a limited-edition collection set to drop today.

Designed by Sneaker Freaker publisher Simon Wood, the collaboration, dubbed "New Balance x Sneaker Freaker NB 997.5 Tassie Tiger", will be available to Australian buyers from Friday (July 15) via a popup within Melbourne men's wear store "Up There" for AU$250 or US$190 at current exchange - a week ahead of the international launch, slated for July 23.

Named after the Tasmanian tiger, an extinct Australian marsupial, the Tassie Tiger is Wood's third collaboration with New Balance and a follow-up to 2013's New Balance x Sneaker Freaker 998 Tassie Devil (via WWD).

The shoe will then be released to select outlets in Australia, China, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea and South Africa only.
