After a gap of one year, Football’s prestigious award, Ballon d’Or is back. France Football has released the 30 nominees for the award. Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Robert Lewandowski are among the nominees on the 30-man 2021 Ballon d’Or longlist. Gianluigi Donnarumma is the only goalkeeper to be nominated. Messi is the favorite to win the award for the 7th time in his career.

The award ceremony will take place on November 29 in Paris, France. The Ballon d’Or 2021 awards presented in particular by Didier Drogba, will take place at the Théâtre du Châtelet. The winner is chosen on the basis of a combination of votes from journalists, national team captains, and coaches. Lionel Messi, a six-time winner, and Megan Rapinoe won the award in 2019. The following year(2020), the event was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
