The Bear's Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri have firmly shut down rumours that there will be "romantic implications" between their characters, Carmy and Sydney.

The third season of the restaurant drama is set to premiere on Wednesday, June 26, a day ahead of its original schedule.

According to Vanity Fair, during a press conference on Monday White and Edebiri were asked whether viewers should expect a romance between their characters and both responded with a definitive: “No.”

“There was no talk in the rooms about any romantic implications [between Carmy and Sydney],” added White.

Talk of a romance between the pair hasn't just surrounded their characters. In May the pair sparked rumours that they were secretly dating after they were spotted seated together at a baseball game  with the rest of the Hulu drama series cast.

They looked closer than ever in footage that surfaced online as 33-year-old White was seen rubbing 28-year-old Edebiri's back.

Speaking about their bond, White recently told Vanity Fair:  “We really enjoy each other in life, on camera and off camera.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for her as a person, but also as an artist.

“And so I hope that sort of that kind of thing shines through on camera between Carm and Syd. Syd is always able to…I don’t know, to deliver something different to Carmy, and she’s usually right. And I guess I think Ayo is also usually right.”

The Bear centres around Carmy, an award-winning chef, who is determined to convert his late brother’s modest sandwich shop into a high-end restaurant he's named The Bear.

The series, which also focuses on the lives of the Chicago restaurant's employees, has been a major hit, garnering accolades at this year’s Golden Globes, Emmys, and Critics Choice Awards.

White and Edebiri have become the break out stars on the show and the close, raw and honest relationship between their characters have led fans to hope that they will become more than just friends.

The series first premiered in 2022, with a second season following in 2023.

It's expected to be such a hit that although the third season has not yet hit screens, it's been reported that the show has already been picked up for a fourth season.

Season 3 with its 10 new episodes will drop n Disney+ on Thursday morning for UK viewers. The first two seasons of The Bear are available on the streamer now.
