BEX and MCE Asia 2018 showcase the latest green innovations
Singapore is making great strides towards sustainability in the built environment.
The Singapore Green Building Week (SGBW) commenced on Wednesday (5 Sep), with thousands of industry experts and professionals from around the world coming together to further improve sustainability in the built environment.
To run until Friday (7 Sep), SGBW kick-started with the opening of its two flagship trade platforms – Build Eco Xpo (BEX) Asia and Mostra Convegno Expocomfort (MCE) Asia.

The former is the region’s top trade exhibition for the green building market, while the latter showcases the latest technologies for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC-R). Both provide a peek into the hi-tech features and fittings of buildings of the future.
BEX and MCE Asia 2018, as well as the annual International Green Building Conference (IGBC) are now ongoing and are all co-located in Marina Bay Sands.
Incidentally, the upcoming PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards (Singapore) will be held at the same venue on 12 October. It will hand out a major award for the Best Green Development in the city-state to recognise property developers that have gone the extra mile to build eco-friendly residential and commercial projects.
Among the innovations being showcased at BEX and MCE Asia 2018 are Kruger’s Secomat dehumidifiers, Panasonic newest air-conditioning units and Dyson’s Airblade Wash+Dry that combines a tap and hand dryer, along with Delta Technology’s Insulated Fire Rated Curtain (IFRC), a failsafe fire preventer.
“BEX Asia is the ideal platform to nurture interest in green building innovations and an opportunity for us to raise awareness among visitors on technologies that are transforming the built sector. For example, AGC is excited to demonstrate how next-generation electrochromic technology combats glare and solar heat in commercial and residential buildings,” said David Yim, marketing manager at AGC Asia Pacific, one of the exhibitors at the event.
“As technology advancements disrupt industries across the world, the built environment sector in Asia will not be spared. Nations are also accelerating their journeys to become smart cities, proving that technology is already playing a crucial role in helping to solve today’s urban challenges and securing a sustainable future for generations to come,” added Michelle Lim, Reed Exhibitions’ managing director for Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia.
