U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken heads to Moldova and Czechia

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Moldova on May 29, to meet with President Maia Sandu and other top officials, Reuters reported.

Blinken's trip to Chisinau marks the first stop in a brief European tour to bolster Western support for Ukraine among NATO allies and neighboring countries.

Following his visit to Moldova, Blinken is scheduled to travel to Prague, Czechia, where he will attend an informal meeting of NATO foreign ministers to prepare for the upcoming summit in Washington this July.

NATO representatives may discuss allowing Ukraine to strike targets in Russia with Western-supplied weapons during these meetings.

The U.S. State Department previously announced that Blinken would depart for Moldova and the Czech Republic on May 28. He and European officials will discuss continued support for Ukraine.

These visits come amidst reports that President Joe Biden's administration is considering abandoning "red lines" due to a renewed Russian offensive in Ukraine.

The U.S. may impose sanctions on China for supplying key technologies to Moscow and lift restrictions on Ukraine using American weapons to target sites within Russia, The Washington Post reported on May 28.
