Girls’ Generation releases teasers in advance of ‘The Boys’ comeback

K-Pop queens Girls' Generation or SNSD has officially announced their Korean comeback after their activities in Japan. SM Entertainment (SME) announced that Girls' Generation's new album "The Boys" will be released on October 5 while the title track will be released a day before.

To build anticipation, SME has released the group's new publicity photos every day this past week. Fairytale-inspired, the first photo of Girls' Generation leader Taeyeon was released on September 26; followed by Sunny and Hyoyeon the day after; Jessica, Sooyoung, and Tiffany on September 28; and Yoona, Yuri and Seohyun on September 29. Fans will recall that member Sooyoung was recently involved in an accident. Fortunately, she is well enough to join the girls for their Korean comeback.

The costumes and make-up for "The Boys" reminds me of fairy tale characters such as The Snow Queen, Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty. The overall concept, though, is hard to guess since some of the girls are styled in modern looks with disco balls and fencing swords. The SNES, Girls' Generation's fans, will just have to wait and see.

SME revealed that the girls' title track "The Boys" was written by Teddy Riley—the legendary producer who has worked with Michael Jackson, Robin Thicke, and Snoop Dog. SME also revealed more welcome news to fans: the music video will be released in both Korean and English.

Indeed, Girls' Generation continues to lure fans into their world. With the recent comeback of the Brown Eyed Girls, and the impending releases from The Wonder Girls, IU and T-ara, it looks like it's going to be a K-Pop girls' showdown this October.
