Steve Jobs: Insanely Great tech icon
I will never forget Steve Jobs' mission in life.
In one of Steven Levy's classic cult novels "Insanely Great: The Life and Times of Macintosh, the Computer that Changed Everything," Jobs was quoted as saying he wanted "to put a dent on the Universe."
The news of his death didn't quite come as a surprise as he battled health problems on-and-off since 2004, but to many whose lives have somehow been touched by the iconic Apple founder and CEO, this seems to be the end of an era.
I was listening to the radio when one of my editors pinged everyone about Steve's passing. A few minutes later, one of the radio DJs got wind of the news and announced it on air. She was choking, as she read the news.
Jobs' successes and failures did tell us many lessons in life. One of them is to believe that you can put a dent in the Universe. Indeed, from the most unforgettable Mac launch in 1984 to the first iPod unveiling, Jobs has been the master salesman of the company.
His absence in Apple's events was telling, and after he came out looking frail and thin, many fans and enthusiasts were anxious about the future of the company without him at the helm.
With his death, the world mourns the passing of another iconic leader and innovator.
Steve, you will be missed. And thanks for an "insanely great" time.
