#48 Visit the Green Lake in Austria during winter or spring

One minute it’s a park; the next it’s a lake with icy, emerald-green waters.

Come to Green Lake in Tragoess, Styria in Austria during the winter months if you want to go hiking, or in springtime when the ice and snow from the Hochschwab mountains have melted to form a water basin that’s great for diving.

If you prefer the latter, it’s best to visit in June, when the water levels are high. You’ll see fish swimming amidst trails, meadows, benches, tree branches and bridges you previously found or explored aboveground.

Fly to Styria via Graz from Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin or Vienna. You can also take the train.
