Australia says nothing spotted in search for plane

Australian acting Prime Minister Warren Truss says their country's search planes have found nothing so far that could be from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight #MH370, as they continue to scour the southern Indian Ocean for more leads.

He said the search was more challenging due to trying weather conditions and five-day-old satellite imagery.

Singapore has expressed its "disappointment" over two Indonesian marines dressed up as the two Macdonald House bombers at a defence exhibition held in Jakarta.

The two men had the name tags "Usman" and "Harun" emblazoned on their uniforms, and visitors flocked to them to take photographs, although Indonesian Defence Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro said the stunt was "clearly inappropriate".

The man at the centre of the Woodlands Bus Interchange spitting incident last year was sentenced to five weeks in jail and slapped with an $800 fine, but came away with a smile and grateful tears as he was led out of the courtroom handcuffed.

The judge presiding over his case had surprisingly kind words for him in what turned out to be an unexpectedly touching exchange.

Singaporean Joan Liew is a successful four-time Asian champion in bodybuilding and also has triumphed on the world stage before, but she bemoans the lack of financial support from the government for the sport.

She says the Singapore Sports Council does not recognise the achievements she has made internationally, although she remains undeterred from continuing to train and win more awards for Singapore.

Despite modest economic growth, home prices in Singapore slipped 0.9 per cent last year, after a 1.13 per cent dip in 2012, according to a Global Property Guide survey.

This appears to show a reverse of the trend of price growth over the three years preceding 2012, but analysts do expect prices to either remain flat or rise by as much as 2 per cent this year.
