Some Laneway Festival-goers waxed lyrical about music by indie bands Courtney Has Crabs, Forrest Gump and the Phua Chu Kangs.

Too bad these bands don’t exist.

A video titled “Project Lameway 2015” showed the embarrassing responses when festival-goers were tested on their knowledge of indie bands.

The video made by a duo named Jonathan and Belicia was inspired by talk show host Jimmy Kimmel’s video series Lie Witness News, which pranks visitors at music festivals and fashion shows by asking them to talk about bands and labels that do not exist.

A group of teenage girls responded enthusiastically when asked if they had heard of the band “Forest Gump”.

A Caucasian man was asked if he knew of the “Phua Chu Kangs” and replied, “Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.”

When prompted further about the “musicians”, some could even describe how their music sounded.

Have a look at the video and see what these indie music connoisseurs say to show that they are hipper than you.
