Body found in Wyoming matches with description of Gabby Petito
22-year-old lifestyle influencer Gabby Petito’s sudden disappearance after the trip with her boyfriend raised unrest among her family, friends, and fans. Police of North Florida, New York, and the FBI have been on the hunt for Gabby Petito ever since. Petito’s boyfriend Laundrie has been a prime suspect of investigation but has been of no use.
FBI Agents on Sunday, 19 September discovered a body in Wyoming which matches the description of Gabby Petito. As per the family, her last known location was in Wyoming. FBI Supervisory Special Agent Charles Jones says, “Full forensic identification has not been completed to confirm 100%. That we found Gabby Petito, but her family has been notified,” Jones said. “This is an incredibly difficult time for (Petito’s) family and friends.”
Petito’s family spokesperson requests to give family some space
Attorney Richard Benson Stafford is acting as the spokesperson for Petito’s family. He requested to give the family the space to process the news. The case has attracted national attention, in part because the couple recorded and discussed their travels on social media. The camping locations in that area have been shuts down until further notice.
The couple’s cross-country trek became their biggest nightmare. Petito’s family has been begging her boyfriend’s family to give any last update on their daughter. A Police video was released by Moab, Utah. It showed that an officer stopped the van on 12 August after it was seen speeding and hitting a curb. Officers interrogating Laundrie in the police cruiser had their body cameras rolling, and Petito appeared to be visibly upset as they watched the footage.
Jones, the FBI agent, said: “We continue to seek information from anyone who explored the Spread Creek dispersed camping area between the dates of 27 August and 30 August, anyone that may have had contact with Gabby or [Brian] or who may have seen their vehicle in that area, please share any new information with the FBI.”
As the investigation is still underway and there hasn’t been complete clarity on events. The FBI Agent denied entertaining any questions.
