Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas plans to travel to the American West Coast to attend his sister's funeral after playing in Friday's NBA playoff game at Chicago, the Boston Globe reported Friday. Thomas plans to fly from Chicago to Tacoma, Washington, to attend his sister's funeral Saturday afternoon, according to the newspaper. Thomas's younger sister, Chyna Thomas, died in a car accident on April 15. Thomas, who has the words "RIP Lil Sis" written in tribute on his shoes, is averaging 25.2 points, 4.2 rebounds and 5.6 assists in five games against the Bulls. The Celtics lead the best-of-seven Eastern Conference first-round series 3-2 and can advance to face either Atlanta or Washington with a victory in game six at Chicago. If the Bulls win to force a seventh game Sunday in Boston, Thomas is expected to be back in time to play, the report said. Thomas also traveled to Tacoma for two days after a game two loss to be with his family and friends. The Celtics finished with the best regular-season record in the Eastern Conference at 53-29 and would have the home-court edge in the second round and conference finals, where they could face defending NBA champion Cleveland.
