Britain's Got Talent star Alesha Dixon has teased the release of new music.

The TV judge, who was part of girl group Mis-Teeq until their split in 2005, has taken to social media to reveal her anticipated return to the microphone.

Alesha gave fans a snippet of her new song in an Instagram post on Friday (May 3), which also showcased clips of her recent trip to Jamaica.

Captioned: "It's bout to be a situation!" Alesha teased the name of the track with the hashtags "#RANSOM" and "#kingstonjamaica".

Fans were quick to share their excitement in the comments, with one writing: "Yes yes yes! It's been ages since new music! Can't wait for this."

"Omg omg omg yes yes yes this so good! Can't wait to hear the whole track now! Hope you do some promos as you deserve all the success," added another, while a third said: "Bout to put it on usssssssss," alongside a clapping emoji.

Alesha released her debut solo album Fired Up in 2006, which featured singles 'Lipstick' and 'Knockdown'. Her second album The Alesha Show followed in 2008, which was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry.

The record, which also landed her a BRIT Award nomination, featured some of the singer's most famous tracks, including 'The Boy Does Nothing' and 'Breathe Slow'.

Alesha's most recent albums, The Entertainer and Do It for Love, debuted in 2010 and 2015 respectively.

The TV personality recently returned with Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Bruno Tonioli for the latest season of BGT. We've already seen four acts receive a coveted place in the live semi-finals, with the latest being a dance act.

After performing a flawless and energetic dance routine, Japanese dance troupe CyberAgent Legit received a standing ovation before Simon pressed the Golden Buzzer.
