Cast of Musical Performs on Street After Theater Evacuated in Dublin

It was a case of the show must go on in Dublin on Tuesday, January 17, as the cast of the musical Piaf performed in the street for punters after the Gate Theatre was evacuated due to a fire alarm.

Footage from Jo Mangan shows the cast, surrounded by audience members, singing a song from the show. Camille O’Sullivan, who plays the French singer Edith Piaf in the biographical show, can be seen dancing as other actors sing and an accordion plays.

“No danger of a fire alarm stopping the show,” Mangan wrote in her caption.

A representative of the Gate Theatre told Storyful that the fire alarm sounded at 8:50 pm, and the building was evacuated for approximately 20 minutes. It was a false alarm, and the show was back on by 9:30.

The Gate Theatre retweeted Mangan’s video, saying, “we’re all okay and safe here”.
