CBI don't want to take action against Tytler, says H.S. Phoolka

New Delhi, Nov.17 (ANI): Senior lawyer H.S. Phoolka on Tuesday slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) over the handling of the 1984 Sikh Riots case, saying that the top investigating agency had refrained from taking serious action against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, who is the prime accused in the case. He said that the CBI had not even bothered to take the addresses of the witnesses from the court. "In July, we filed the protest petition and we mentioned the address and the details of the witnesses in a sealed cover and filed it in the court. The CBI did not take that from the court. When the matter was argued in the court on 28 and 30 October, I argued in the court that the CBI has not even bothered to take the address from the court. This shows that CBI donot want to take action against Jagdish Tytler," Phoolka told ANI here. "The CBI has filed a report in the court today that they are prepared to further investigate the Tytler case if the addresses of the witnesses are given to them. In December 2014, the CBI filed the closure report and gave the clean cheat to Tytler on the basis that the witnesses are not traceable," he added. Meanwhile, the CBI today filed an application in the Karkardooma Court, saying that it is willing to reinvestigate the 1984 Sikh riots case against Congress leader Jagdish Tytler. This comes in reply to the application filed by Akali Dal in the court after names of witnesses-Resham Singh, Chanchal Singh and Alam Singh were provided. Earlier, the CBI had twice given a clean chit to the Congress leader in connection with this case. In April 2013, a sessions court had rejected the closure report and ordered the CBI to further investigate the killing. The CBI filed another closure report on December 24, 2014, saying there was not sufficient evidence to proceed against Tytler.(ANI)
