Changi Airport Terminal 4 to reopen in September as passenger traffic recovers

SINGAPORE — Changi Airport's Terminal 4 (T4) will reopen in September while the southern wing of Terminal 2 (T2) will start departure operations in October as passenger traffic continues to recover.

Since the relaxation of travel protocols on 1 April, passenger traffic at Changi Airport has recovered strongly. In the first week of June, passenger traffic at the airport reached 48 per cent of pre-COVID-19 levels, Changi Airport Group (CAG) said in a statement on Friday (10 June)

CAG said it has been engaging with airlines, airport partners and potential tenants to prepare for the reopening of T4 to handle departure and arrival flights.

It is expected that airlines previously operating at T4 will return to the terminal while there will be a small number of retail outlets and food & beverage (F&B) options to serve passengers when T4 reopens, CAG added.

The resumption of departure operations in the southern wing of T2 follows the start of arrival operations on 29 May. Expansion and upgrading works in the northern wing will continue, CAG said.

Two new stores – Shilla Duty Free selling beauty products and Lotte Duty Free selling duty-free wines and spirits – will open in August and September, respectively, at the arrival area in T2. A cluster of up to four F&B concepts will also open in the area in October.

CAG CEO Lee Seow Hiang said the airport’s partners have been recruiting more manpower to fill various positions, from frontline staff to airside workers. CAG is also working to secure more tenants for the two terminals, Lee added.
