Colin Farrell to star in "True Detective 2"

23 Sep – Colin Farrell is set to star in HBO's second season of the critically acclaimed American television crime drama series "True Detective", the actor himself recently confirmed to Sunday World.

The "Saving Mr. Banks" actor will be playing Ray Velcaro, a damaged man who has suffered traumatic experiences in his professional as well as his personal life.

"True Detective" season 2 will follow the story of a corrupt businessman who is viciously murdered on the brink of completing a deal. The businessman is discovered dead the night prior to the unfinished transaction.

With one cast member finally revealed to the public, now anticipation is building to see which big star will sign on next. Some of the names that have been rumoured to be joining the series include Taylor Kitsch, Vince Vaughn, Jessica Biel and Rosaria Dawson, though so far none has been confirmed.

Meanwhile Rachel McAdams and Elisabeth Moss are reportedly eyeing the same part but fans will have to stay put to find out which one will eventually land the role.

Slotted for release in summer 2015, Justin Lin ("Fast & Furious 6") is currently set to direct the first two of the eight episodes for the season. Filming is reported to begin soon.

Fans who have missed seeing Farrell on the big screen will get to see him again in his upcoming movies, "Miss Julie", "Solace" and "The Lobster".

Season one of "True Detective" starred Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey ("Dallas Buyers Club") and Woody Harrelson ("The Hunger Games").

Due to the series' critical acclaim, it has been attracting an A-list cast and crew and there are even talks to adapt the series into a theatrical movie in the long run.
