Magic: The Gathering’s next Masters set Commander Masters will be released on 4 August, and it is now the preview season for all the reprints in the upcoming set.

This Masters set will feature reprints specifically for the Commander format, and one of the reprints coming to your LGS (local game store) this summer is Godo, Bandit Warlord.

Godo, Bandit Warlord is a Commander in mono-red, and it is a win condition in the Command Zone because it can search for Helm of the Host, attach it to Godo, Bandit Warlord, and win the game.

For just eleven mana (six to cast and five to equip), Godo, Bandit Warlord and Helm of the Host will generate as many non-legendary Godo, Bandit Warlord tokens and combat phases needed to win a Commander game.

Godo, Bandit Warlord is often played in more competitive Commander games since it can win on the spot, and getting to eleven mana by Turn 2 or 3 (or even Turn 1 with a godly hand) is consistently possible with an optimised deck.

Godo, Bandit Warlord also works as a voltron Commander, when players find a way to equip as many Equipment to Godo as their decks allow, make him as big as possible before swinging at their opponents for the win.

I am not gonna lie: I actually own a competitive Godo, Bandit Warlord deck, and really enjoy playing it.

It is not the strongest mono-red deck in the current meta, but there is just something satisfying about counting to eleven mana and slamming the win on the table (that is if my opponents do not disrupt the combo).

I will be sure to buy as many Godo, Bandit Warlord reprints to form an army of tokens for the odd chance I win a Commander game with him next.

I have to ask though: why does my boy Godo not get any new art? :(
