COVID-19: 2 F&B outlets ordered to shut, 3 others fined for safe management breaches on NYE
SINGAPORE — Two food and beverages (F&B) outlets were ordered to close, while fines were issued to three other outlets for breaches of COVID-19 safe management measures (SMMs) on New Year’s Eve, the Ministry for Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) said on Wednesday (6 January).
Separately, 15 individuals were also fined $300 each for gathering and sitting in groups larger than the permitted group size at F&B outlets during Phases 2 and 3 reopening.
2 F&B outlets ordered shut for various SMM breaches
The first outlet is Meltz Resto-Bar at Race Course Road. At 9.25pm on 31 December, it was found to have allowed a group of 10 individuals to be seated together at a table. It also failed to conduct temperature screening and implement SafeEntry for its patrons.
Under Phase 3 of Singapore’s reopening after its circuit breaker period, F&B outlets can allow a maximum of eight persons to be seated together at a table.
The second outlet, Club V5 Tycoon at Ming Arcade along Cuscaden Road, was found to have allowed patrons to consume alcohol at 11.15pm on 31 December, breaching the SMM rule of not allowing alcohol consumption on F&B premises after 10.30pm.
The Singapore Tourism Board has issued orders for both outlets to be closed for 10 days from 1 to 10 January.
3 F&B outlets fined $1,000 each for SMM breaches
Three other F&B outlets were each fined $1,000 for breaching SMMs on 31 December such as seating groups of patrons less than one metre apart, failing to ensure a one-metre distance between customers in a queue, and providing games to patrons despite not being an amusement centre.
The outlets are: Club Lux at Orchard Plaza, Epiphyte at Neil Road, and TCC at International Building.
Holiday period
Over the year-end holiday period, the MSE said eight F&B outlets were ordered to close, while fines were issued to 26 F&B outlets and 51 individuals for SMM breaches.
