SINGAPORE — Another nine individuals in Singapore have succumbed to the coronavirus, as the Ministry of Health (MOH) confirmed 3,058 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday (17 October), bringing the country's total case count to 148,178.

Among them, seven had been unvaccinated against COVID-19, the ministry said, and two were vaccinated. Eight of them had various underlying medical conditions, while an unvaccinated case had no known medical conditions.

Five clusters, the ministry said, are being closely monitored. Among them are two preschools: Learning Vision @ Changi Airport and MY World Preschool @ Hougang Dewcourt. They have 17 and 14 cases respectively.

The other three are care and nursing homes: Apex Harmony Lodge with 12 cases, ECON Medicare Centre & Nursing Home with 63 cases, and MWS Christalite Methodist Home with 109 cases.

Apart from the 233 patients who have died from COVID-19 complications, 15 others who tested positive for the virus were determined to have died from unrelated causes, including three whose deaths were attributed to a heart attack and another four whose deaths were attributed to coronary heart disease.

As of Saturday, about 9.63 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme. Some 4.62 million have received at least one dose of the vaccine, with some 4.56 million having completed the full vaccination regimen.

To date, about 780,000 eligible individuals have been invited to receive their booster doses – 577,069 of them have received their booster shots while another 88,000 have booked their appointments.
