'Criminal Minds' Hinted More About J.J. and Reid's Relationship and It's Causing Drama

From Country Living

Criminal Minds has a lot of explaining to do in its final season.

The hit CBS show ended its last finale with a major cliffhanger—that J.J. has always loved Reid—and fans really couldn’t handle the reveal. She tried to play it off like she had lied to save both their lives, but no one was buying it.

Flash forward to today, and people are still trying to figure out what is happening between these two. J.J. (A.J. Cook) is married on the show, so does that mean she’s going to leave her husband? And what about Rachael Leigh Cook? Her character is supposed to strike up a relationship with Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), but it’s unclear what that means.

We hate to tell you, but the first photo from the new episodes only makes things more uncertain. TVLine shared a picture of the two looking pretty cozy. They’re holding each other’s arms and there’s definitely chemistry, but could they be at some innocent team-building activity? On the hunt for an UnSub, perhaps? It’s hard to tell.

“These people have been in the trenches together—as far as work goes, it’s life or death quite often—and who are we to say who gets close and who doesn’t?” said showrunner Erica Messer, only making us more confused. “Yeah, it’s messy and it’s weird, but ‘I’ve loved you for a long time’….that’s just the truth.”

One thing that is abundantly clear is that fans are not for this relationship. Twitter users are still buzzing about how they think this a bad idea, and the finale aired 10 months ago.

The good news is, we should be getting some answers soon. “We deal with that in the first two hours of the final 10, because that needs some explanation and some tender care really to have her be fair to everyone,” Erica said. “I think 100 percent that Reid loves her, too, so that’s where it’s hard.”

Ugh.
