Doctor Who viewers praise "brilliant" Steven Moffat episode
Doctor Who viewers have praised the show's latest episode, which has seen the return of former showrunner Steven Moffat on writing duties.
Tonight's (May 18) episode 'Boom' saw the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson) stumble into a war on a distant planet, though the Doctor is stuck on a landmine for the duration of the episode in a life-or-death situation.
Since it premiered earlier today, many have shared positive reactions to the episode, some calling it their "favourite" of Gatwa's season so far as they heaped praise on Moffat's comeback.

"My favorite episode since Peter Capaldi's run," one wrote on X. "I'll admit, I've been a Steven Moffat girlie since it was cool to hate him, but this episode is gripping, tense, and electrifying. Moffat delivers. Ncuti Gatwa is INCREDIBLE. Fifteen is becoming one of my fave Doctors."
"STEVEN MOFFAT!!! MY EMOTIONS! But in all seriousness, Moffat's return was BRILLIANT," another said. "This is probably my favorite episode of the season so far. So, so good. It reminded me why I love this show so much. And I think it cemented Ncuti Gatwa as a PERFECT Doctor."

A third added: "Boom is hands down the best episode of the season so far and also one of Steven Moffat’s best outings as writer in the entire show. It’s tense and features an incredible performance from Ncuti that has solidified him as the Doctor in my mind. 10/10 episode another banger."
Another wrote: "Ncuti Gatwa's performance in 'Boom' is up there alongside the likes of Peter Capaldi in 'Heaven Sent' like he is born to play the Doctor I can't even begin to tell you."

#drwho Delivered an all time great episode in it's long history today/tonight and potentially my favorite episode of TV of 2024 so far. "Boom" is worth a watch as a stand a lone episode much like other Moffatt classics like "Blink"

Boom! is one of Moffat’s best #DoctorWho scripts, & once again just shows how great Ncuti is in the role. Such an intense, and interesting, script. I don’t want to say more for fear of spoilers?m, but it left me on the edge of my seat throughout. Moff, you’ve outdone yourself! pic.twitter.com/XND1vS53aC
