Dolly Parton to be honored at CMA Awards

Dolly Parton will receive the lifetime achievement award at the 50th annual Country Music Association Awards.

The country music icon will be honored at the awards ceremony in November for her illustrious career. Parton has received 44 CMA Awards nominations and won nine times, including Entertainer and Female Vocalist of the Year.

The Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes artists who have achieved national and international prominence, positively impacted and contributed to the country music genre and have a record of humanitarian efforts and philanthropy.

Previous recipients include Kenny Rogers, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson.

"Dolly epitomizes the very definition of the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award," said Sarah Trahern, CMA Chief Executive Officer.

"She is a trailblazer who continues to enchant and captivate fans around the world, from her latest No. 1 album, to her sold-out tour, and numerous television projects. She is a treasure and deserving of this industry acclaim for her undeniable contributions to the success of Country Music, today."

Parton's latest album "Pure & Simple" recently debuted at No. 1 -- her first in 25 years.

The CMA Awards airs November 2 on ABC.
