Dota 2: Blacklist Rivalry go on perfect run to win APAC Predator League 2024

Blacklist Rivalry went a perfect 7-0 through the Group Stage and Playoffs to secure the organisation’s first-ever Dota 2 championship.

Filipino powerhouse Blacklist Rivalry have claimed the championship of the Asia-Pacific Predator League 2024’s Dota 2 tournament after a perfect run that culminated with a 2-0 sweep over fellow Filipino squad Execration in the best-of-three Grand Finals on Sunday (14 January).

With their victory, Blacklist claimed the grand prize of US$65,000 out of the tournament’s US$100,000 prize pool. This is also the organisation’s first-ever Dota 2 tournament win and a welcome success for its new roster with Abed “Abed” Yusop, Kim “Gabbi” Santos, and Juan Carlo “Carlo” Manalo.

Blacklist were among the four teams that received a direct invite to the tournament and started the Group Stage in Group A alongside Execration.

Blacklist topped Group A with a 4-0 record while Execration finished second with a 3-1 line, earning them spots in the best-of-one semifinals.

Blacklist defeated Mongolian team IHC Esports while Execration went through Chinese team Aster.Aries, setting up an all-Filipino affair in the Grand Finals.

Blacklist came out swinging to start the series and took a comfortable 42-minute win in game one, where Abed shone bright on Dragon Knight and paced his team’s 36-16 kill lead with 12 kills and 17 assists on three deaths. Marc Polo “Raven” Fausto on Alchemist added a clean eight kills and 15 assists while Timothy “TIMS” Randrup on Shadow Demon had eight kills and 22 assists on two deaths.

Blacklist continued rolling in game two and dominated Execration in 37 minutes to secure the championship behind brilliant performances from Raven on Luna and Gabbi on an offlane Naga Siren.

Raven led the way with 10 kills and nine assists on just one death out of Blacklist’s 24-13 kill lead. Gabbi also had a clean four kills and 13 assists in the closeout game.

Execration bow out of the Predator League in second place with US$20,000 for their efforts.
