OG's Ceb cleared to play in TI10 after eye surgery
Back-to-back defending Dota 2 world champions OG announced on Monday (4 October) that they will be looking to make a three-peat at The International 10 (TI10) with a full squad after offlaner Sébastien “Ceb” Debs was cleared by doctors to play in the tournament.
OG revealed on Friday (1 October) that there was a chance Ceb would have to miss playing in TI10 as he was still recovering from an emergency eye surgery.
OG's offlaner needed to undergo the surgery because of a retinal detachment in his left eye, which could have derailed his playing career if it was not addressed immediately.
While Ceb's surgery was successful, it was previously uncertain whether he would be cleared to play at TI10 by his doctor due to the subsequent recovery period. As a precautionary measure, OG even tapped Team Liquid carry player Michael "miCKe" Vu to be their official stand-in for TI10 in the event that Ceb will completely miss the tournament.
But now that Ceb has been cleared to play, OG will be embarking on their campaign for a third-straight Aegis of Champions in full force. The organisation even praised their offlaner's fortitude, calling him "a role model of dedication to his craft" for choosing to compete shortly after undergoing surgery.
Alongside announcing their offlaner will be cleared to play in TI10, OG also released a short documentary that gives fans of the team a closer look on how Ceb and his family handled his medical emergency and prepared for TI10.
OG have made history by being the only team to claim back-to-back TI championships in 2018 and 2019, with Ceb being instrumental during those title runs for his leadership and excellent play on the offlane.
In the scenario that one of their key players was sidelined, OG would have definitely faced an uphill battle in their quest for a three-peat at TI10.
TI10 is set to begin on 7 October and will run until 17 October. The tournament 18 of the best Dota 2 teams in the world competing to claim the title of world champions and the lion's share of the event's over US$40 million prize pool.
TI10's main event from 12 to 17 October will be held in front of a live audience in the Arena Națională in Bucharest, Romania.
