Come 15 October, members of the public will get their chance to check out Downtown Line 3 (DTL3) at an open house event, ahead of its official opening on 21 October.

From 10am to 6pm, they can preview all 16 new DTL3 stations for free, including Fort Canning, Bencoolen, Jalan Besar, Bendemeer and Geylang Bahru. The one-day open house, themed “Rail of Fun”, will also offer games and activities including celebrity performances.

Visitors can join in the Stamp Rally game for a chance to redeem a DTL3 gift while stocks last and take photos with the Thoughtful Bunch mascots: Stand-Up Stacey, Move-In Martin, Give-Way Glenda, Bag-Down Benny and Hush-Hush Hannah.

The history of the Singapore rail system and the evolution of the MRT system will also be showcased in the “30 Years of MRT” exhibition at Expo Station, while the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) will conduct tours of the Civil Defence shelter facilities at Bedok Reservoir and Tampines West Stations.

The event comes against the backdrop of a series of breakdowns on the MRT network in recent months, many of them due to the testing of a new signalling system on the North-South and East-West Line.
