Dream Hampton Addresses Allegations Against Diddy at the “It Was All a Dream” Premiere: 'Just Mad at Him' (Exclusive)

The filmmaker previously executive produced the 'Surviving R. Kelly' docuseries that helped bring charges against rapper R. Kelly

dream hampton premiered her new documentary It Was All a Dream on Sunday, June 9, as part of the Tribeca Film Festival the SVA Theatre in New York City and commented on the allegations Sean "Diddy" Combs is facing.

"I’m kind of just mad at him that I have to talk about or be asked about it," she told PEOPLE, adding that she had "no idea" if the hip-hop mogul would endure consequences for his alleged crimes: "It’s all unfolding."

Described as a “visual memoir,” It Was All a Dream is composed of video from the music journalist’s personal archive. It includes footage inside the studio with some of rap’s biggest names, including stars The Notorious B.I.G., Wu-Tang Clan’s Method Man, Mobb Deep and Snoop Dogg.

Allegations against Diddy, 54, were first made public in November 2023, when his ex Cassie alleged that he raped and sex trafficked her for 10 years in a bombshell lawsuit. The suit was resolved to their “mutual satisfaction” the next day, although four more individuals publicly accused the music mogul of sexual assault over the next few months.

In December, Diddy gave a blanket denial of sexual assault accusations in a statement, writing in a statement obtained by PEOPLE, “Sickening allegations have been made against me by individuals looking for a quick payday.”

The rapper’s Los Angeles and Miami properties were raided by federal agents in March, which a Homeland Security Investigations representative told PEOPLE was “part of an ongoing investigation” in a statement. In May, CNN released a 2016 hotel surveillance video of Diddy grabbing, shoving and kicking Cassie, 37, matching allegations the singer made in her initial lawsuit. In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, Cassie's lawyer said that the video “only further confirmed” Diddy’s “disturbing and predatory behavior.”

hampton, a music journalist, is also credited for executive producing Surviving R. Kelly, the explosive 2019 Lifetime docuseries in which women claim the hit-maker used his power and influence to sexually and physically abuse women and young girls.

“This is a deeply painful story about a predator,” hampton, 53, told PEOPLE in 2019. “We have brave women who came forward. The public deserved to have the full story.”

A month after the show’s release, R. Kelly was indicted by a grand jury on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse against four alleged victims. In the years since, Kelly has been found guilty for a host of charges, including child pornography, and ultimately sentenced to a total of 31 years behind bars.
