Edward Norton’s wife is no stranger to show business.

The Golden Globe-winning actor is married to Shauna Robertson, who has produced a number of comedies including Elf and worked with Judd Apatow.

Discussing Robertson with the Los Angeles Times, Apatow said, “She is the rare woman who always wants to take the joke farther than any man wants to go. All nudity in my films is a result of Shauna pushing me and calling me a wimp. If it wasn’t for her I would be making Bratz 2.”

While Robertson has been open about her career, she and Norton are more private when it comes to their personal life. So much so that the pair quietly tied the knot, and news of their secret wedding wasn’t reported until after the birth of their first child a year later.

In an interview with The Independent in 2015, Norton said, “I would say personal life, family life, you want to balance things, but it’s an interesting paradox because being an actor is not a thing you do all the time ... Whereas before my ambition was almost unilaterally focused on acting, it’s not any more.”

Here's everything to know about Edward Norton’s wife, Shauna Robertson.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Robertson grew up on a farm outside of Toronto. Norton described his wife as a “Canadian farm girl” on the SmartLess podcast in 2022.

She dropped out of high school

Robertson left high school at the age of 16 to move to Los Angeles to work as an assistant to filmmaker Mike Binder, who had attended a camp in Canada with her mother, per the Los Angeles Times.

Although her career didn't take off right away, this move kicked off her celebrated work in producing.

Robertson’s producer credits include Elf, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Pineapple Express, Knocked Up, Superbad and Forgetting Sarah Marshall. She told the Los Angeles Times that having “hippy parents” was her biggest preparation for producing.

“It’s good early training to have an incredibly irresponsible family,” she said. “It forces a young person to take responsibility, to be organized.”

Norton revealed on the SmartLess podcast that his The People vs. Larry Flynt costar Woody Harrelson and his wife introduced him to Robertson.

“We met in London," the Fight Club actor recalled during the 2022 episode. "Woody Harrelson and his wife introduced us. Woody was doing Night of the Iguana on the West End ... I was rehearsing a movie in New York and I was getting a little aggravated with the process and they were like, 'Can you do another day tomorrow?’ ”

In a “passive-aggressive” move, Norton said he couldn’t and booked a ticket to London to see Harrelson.

Smartless co-host Will Arnett pointed out, “And then it changed your life,” to which Norton replied, “Yeah.”

Speaking to PEOPLE in 2015, Norton called CrowdRise “a happy experience every day.”

The Birdman star said, “Literally every single day, every single month, people are using it to express their own determination to do something good in the world. It’s like hundreds and thousands of millions of people rallying in these really creative and innovative ways to support causes and charities they care about, or to raise direct support for friends and loved ones who are in crisis in some way.”

She has left producing behind

In 2009, Robertson decided to step away from producing.

“I wanted to have other chapters in my life,” she explained to The Hollywood Reporter in 2014. “I was planning on just moving to Italy and doing a lot of yoga or something.”

Instead, she and her then-boyfriend, Norton, launched CrowdRise, which she told Glamour was “very satisfying for me." Robertson added, “And just slightly more enjoyable than telling fart jokes."
