Although the Battlestar Galactica roller coasters were plagued with a series of closures, Singaporeans welcomed its re-opening in Universal Studios Singapore (USS) on May 27, following almost a two-year hiatus.

Some of those Yahoo Singapore spoke to after the opening had no qualms about the ride despite its previous closures and rumours of safety concerns.

Aqilah, 20, a full-time nurse, said that she was not bothered by rumoured complications and said her visit to USS was "just for Battlestar".

“To me, Battlestar Galactica is the best rollercoaster in Singapore. Being a high-speed rollercoaster, the adrenaline rush is there, and it doesn’t matter how many times I have sat it before two years ago at USS," she said. "There will always be the thrill of screaming at the top of your lungs from such an exciting ride.”

Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) announced previously that the Battlestar Galactica vehicles will now seat two people per row instead of the previous four, so that all riders can get a window-seat view while enjoying the ride.

"With the new design, each rider gets to be seated in an outermost seat and allows them to feel closer to the action, thus enhancing the feeling of speed and thrills that the ride offers," an RWS spokesperson told Yahoo Singapore.

The ride's waiting time was about 45 minutes for both HUMAN and CYLON roller-coasters in the dual Battlestar Galactica rollercoaster when Yahoo Singapore visited its premises Wednesday (Jun 3).

This was much longer than the 20-minute wait experienced for the Revenge of the Mummy high-speed rollercoaster ride.

A 43-year-old who only wanted to be known as Mr Ng was queuing for Battlestar Galactica together with his 12-year-old son.

He says that it his first time ever sitting on these duelling roller coasters.

“I’m only going to try it because my son wants to. But I have heard so much good things about this ride being really unique (so) I think it’s going to be good!” he remarked.

Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs. CYLON boasts itself as the world’s first and tallest duelling roller coaster at 42.5 metres.

These high-speed roller coasters were closed on 21 July 2013, after Resorts
World Sentosa (RWS) claimed to be conducting an “attraction review”.

Universal Studios Singapore is located at Resorts World Sentosa, and opens daily from 10am - 7pm.
